First time renting from Top Rent. Received an upgrade without requesting it. Car was brand new with only 4500kms. Overall a very good experience. They do request that the car is returned clean, and did note to me that I should have cleaned the sand from the footwells before returning the car.

On 16th July, once I received the car, I raised the issue of not receiving the original document of the International Motor Insurance Card (or called a green card). The staff reassured me that the rules have now changed and that I would not need the original paper as I am travelling to European Union.
I raised the issue again while receiving the car I will be travelling to Greece and North Macedonia. He politely explained to me, ''not to worry, and you will be fine''. He told me, ''we are giving the original paper only if you travel to Turkey''.
I said that I always travel to North Macedonia with an original document of an International Motor Insurance Card (or called a green card). He explains to me that the rules have changed and that they are not providing the original document. I said that North Macedonia is not a member of the European Union.
Therefore, we headed to our first destination, North Macedonia (the same day, 16th July), to find out that not having the Green Card ruined our holiday.
The staff at the Macedonian border asked me to provide them with the original document of the Green Card. I explained what the rental car company had told me previously.
Macedonian border police did not allow us to enter the country. We needed to stay for an hour between the Bulgarian - Macedonian border and tried to call the rental company for advice.
We did our best to call the company. Due to the poor network signal, we could not reach the company. Therefore I needed to buy a Policy for border insurance of third-party liability to enter North Macedonia. We needed to wait another hour for the insurance staff to come out of hours to issue the document.
Darina Georgieva (Head of Call Center) was extremely helpful in resolving our issues.
